His Holiness Sakya Trizen, visited Chagdud Gonpa Dechen Ling in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and gave the oral transmission for the Red Tara practice.  His Holiness’ visit was a wonderful blessing for the center at River House, Chagdud Rinpoche’s first seat in the West.  His Holiness is the incarnation of Apong Terton, who revealed the Red Tara practice.Click on the photo for a slide show of the visit.

After blessing Dechen Ling, His Holiness went to The Village Green, in Cottage Grove, where he gave a Medicine Buddha empowerment to a large audience.

Khyentse Rinpoche with Chagdud Tulku and Lama Sonam in France

Almost twenty years to the day that Chagdud Rinpoche, Lama Sonam, and a  group of students met and received teachings from Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and a hundred years after Khyentse’s birth, his young incarnation returned to America, giving teachings, blessings and empowerments to old and new friends.

After visits to New York City and Vermont, Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche came to Boulder, Colorado,  and Phuntsok Choling, the nearby retreat center of Mangala Shri Bhuti.

At the Boulder Theater, Mattieu Ricard introduced a film on Dilgo Khyentse, “Brilliant Moon”, in the afternoon, and in the evening, Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche gave the Pema Tse Nyingtik Longevity Empowerment.

The annual Rigdzin Dupa retreat, the “Gathering of theVidyadharas”, (a terma of Jigme Lingpa) took place in the “new” shrine room at PPIAti Ling this year.  As yet unfinished, and without windows or doors, it is open to the fresh summer breezes from the ocean nearby.  We enjoyed having space to prepare tsok, and for  kids to join us, playing at the back of the hall while we accumulated 100,000 tsok offerings.  During breaks, we were delighted by beautiful weather and abundant flowers in the garden, and renewed the prayer flags that circle the garden.

Here is a collection of slides of the retreat…..or you can view the collection in a larger format, and down load pictures, here

Tromge Monastery is located the T’hromt’har Valley in Eastern Tibet, the winter home for nomadic familiess who support, and are served by, the monastery.   In the summer, the herdsmen follow their yaks to grazing lands at higher altitudes.  When we visited in the summer of 2007,  a group of herdsmen descended to the valley to take part in activities.

They also put on a horse riding competition for our enjoyment and theirs. It goes like this:  White scarves are laid on the ground a few meters apart and the riders, at top speed, dip from their saddles to pluck the scarves  from the ground.  (The rider’s horse is led by another horse and rider to keep the following horse on track while its rider hangs from its side.)

Lama Jigme

From the earliest days of Chagdud Gonpa in the West, Lama Jigme has supported the dharma activities of Chagdud Rinpoche through his kind, skillful and patient teaching of the dharma arts–music, dancing and puja–and his warm and profound presence at drubchens.

A contemporary and good friend of Jigme Rinpoche, Lama Jigme’s father was a close disciple of H.H.Dudjom Rinpoche, whose lineage he so strongly supports.

HERE is a short slide show of recent pictures of Lama Jigme.

Trinley Wangmo is the sister of Chagdud Rinpoche and aunt of Jigme Tulku Rinpoche. She lives in Tibet where she is highly respected as an unconventional woman of wisdom and compassion.  These pictures were taken in 2007.
