His Holiness Sakya Trizen, visited Chagdud Gonpa Dechen Ling in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and gave the oral transmission for the Red Tara practice.  His Holiness’ visit was a wonderful blessing for the center at River House, Chagdud Rinpoche’s first seat in the West.  His Holiness is the incarnation of Apong Terton, who revealed the Red Tara practice.Click on the photo for a slide show of the visit.

After blessing Dechen Ling, His Holiness went to The Village Green, in Cottage Grove, where he gave a Medicine Buddha empowerment to a large audience.

The annual T’hroma Retreat was held during Easter weekend this year at Ati Ling.

Sang-ngag Rinpoche preparing Ceremony for the Dead

This year’s annual Red Vajrasattva drubchen led by Sang-ngag Rinpoche. Khenpo Ugyen Wangchuk arrived early to instruct the staff on all levels of preparation and practice, from playing instruments to making tormas, and, drawing from his wealth of experience as chant leader and khenpo, instructed us on practicing the sadhana.   Lamas Padma, Tsering, Norbu and Thubden attended, as well as sangha from 17 different countries.

Vajrakilya Practice at Ati Ling was held between Western New Year’s and Losar. Chagdud Khadro, Padma Dorje Rinpoche and Lama Thubten attended, and Jigme Tromge Rinpoche was the Vajra Master.

Red Tara Statue at Dechen Ling

Red Tara

This statue of Red Tara, one of the first sculptures made in the West by Chagdud Rinpoche, sits in the shrine room of Dechen Ling, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, the first Chagdud Gonpa center outside of Tibet, and Rinpoche’s home for many years.
