20th Annual Red Vajrasattva Drubchen

Khenpo Ugyen Wangchuk

The Red Vajrasattva practice has been held at Rigzdin Ling, with daily practice and a drubchen annually each year.  This year Gochen Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche was the Vajra Master.   Khenpo Ugyen Wangchuk, a scholar accomplished in the arts of the Vajrayana, was the skilled umze and, as in years before, patiently coached our chopens, musicians and other participants with humor, skill and precision.

This year’s practice was attended by several Chagdud Gonpa lamas and  marked with exceptionally strong signs of accomplishment, as well as abundant joy and good humor.

H.H. Sakya Trizen in Cottage Grove

His Holiness Sakya Trizen, visited Chagdud Gonpa Dechen Ling in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and gave the oral transmission for the Red Tara practice.  His Holiness’ visit was a wonderful blessing for the center at River House, Chagdud Rinpoche’s first seat in the West.  His Holiness is the incarnation of Apong Terton, who revealed the Red Tara practice.Click on the photo for a slide show of the visit.

After blessing Dechen Ling, His Holiness went to The Village Green, in Cottage Grove, where he gave a Medicine Buddha empowerment to a large audience.

T’hroma at Ati Ling

The annual T’hroma Retreat was held during Easter weekend this year at Ati Ling.

Losar (New Year’s) at Rigzdin Ling

Losar morning began with a recitation of prayers in the Shrine Room lobby and the renewal of vows at the stupa of Chagdud Rinpoche, and followed by a lovely Red Tara tsok.

 In the afternoon, visitors from the community joined us  for refreshments and to view the raising new prayer flags on “Meditation Hill”.

After the flag raising, many, many butterlamps were offered.

Vajrakilaya Drubchod at Rigzdin Ling

Lama Padma Dorje Rinpoche, Lama Padma Gyatso, Lama Tsering & Lama Norbu

This year Lama Padma Dorje Rinpoche again was Vajra Master for the Vajrakilya drubchod at Rigzdin Ling, held each year to purify accumulated past karma and to clear away obstacles for the coming year.  He was joined by Lamas Padma, Tsering, Norbu and Thubden, as well as Gatsal Lama (Lama Jamie) from Williams, who was the chant leader, umze.

After a ceremony outside on the last day, participants re-enter the shrine room, tossing tsampa (ground roasted barley flour) in the air, celebrating health and prosperity for the new year.

Vajrakilaya Drubchod at Ati Ling

Vajrakilaya Drubchod is held yearly at Chagdud Gonpa Ati Ling at New Year’s. Click here, or on the picture, for a slideshow of the 2012/2013 event, which was led by Jigme Tronge Rinpoche, and attended by Lama Jigme, from Eugene, Oregon, and Tulku Max from San Francisco.

Annual Red Tara Tsog in Cottage Grove

This year’s annual Red Tara Tsog Offering in Cottage Grove was attended a host of lamas.  Jigme Tromge Rinpoche, the Vajra Master and Gatsal Lama as umze were joined by Lama Tsering  and Lama Norbu from Brazil, Lama Padma from Seattle, Lama Inge from Spokane,  Lama Trinley and Lama Dorje from Cottage Grove, Lama Thubden from Rigzdin Ling, and Lama Zangpo, ending his retreat in the Yukon. Lama Jigme from Eugene joined us, as did Lama Sonam.
